When supplied with an operating voltage between 1 and 72V DC, it'll turn your electrical signal into an optical one before firing it at a photosensitive transistor. It then converts the signal into an electrical transmission with the power to control circuits between 3.5 and 32V DC. This nifty device has many uses, including robotics, I/O subsystems and data acquisition.
