FTDI Chip Adapter Board

The FTDI Chip adapter board is a USB to dual interface RS485 level serial UART incorporating FTDI’s FT2232H hi-speed USB2.0 to dual serial UART interface IC device. The FT2232H handles all the USB signalling and protocols. This adaptor provides a fast and simple way to connect devices with an RS485 interface to USB. An integrated electronics of the modules utilises the FTDI FT2232H and includes RS485 level shifters plus TXD/RXD LEDs to provide a visual indication of data traffic through the module. This board uses a standard USB-B device connector for connection to an upstream host or hub port. It requires USB device drivers, which is used to make the board appear as a Virtual COM Port (VCP). This allows existing serial communication software such as HyperTerminal to exchange data through the module to a legacy RS485 peripheral device.
