SICK STR1 Series Safety Switch, 24V DC Supply Voltage, IP69K - STR1-SASU10P5

This safety switch is a non-contact RFID sensor and actuator system designed to monitor protective guards and access points in industrial settings. It provides safety outputs and diagnostics for individual wiring applications, operates from a 24V DC supply and is housed in a robust VISTAL® enclosure to suit harsh environments.

Features and Benefits:

• SIL3 safety integrity delivers high-risk functional protection
• Two safe outputs enable redundant safety signalling
• Output current limited to 100mA for controlled switching
• Operating range accommodates temperatures up to 70°C
• IP69K and IP67 rating resists washdown and dust ingress

Applications

• Suitable for food-industry washdown environments requiring IP69K
• Used with guarded machines needing redundant safety outputs
• Ideal for assembly lines requiring non-contact interlocks
• Can be used where compact, high-temperature sensors are needed
• Suitable for systems needing cable connection with diagnostics

What connection options are provided for integration?

It uses a 5-wire cable with a 10m factory-fitted lead and allows long connecting cables up to 200m.

How is actuator alignment and direction handled?

The device supports five actuation directions and three Active sensor surfaces on TOP and both sides for versatile alignment.

What safety categories and performance levels does it meet?

It is specified to Category 4 and Performance Level PLe with a PFHD of 5.1x10-9 and a 20-year mission time.

How are faults and status indicated?

Built-in LEDs provide status display and diagnostics for detection of internal or external faults.

What are the electrical timing characteristics relevant to system design?

Response time is 40 MS, release time on approach is 100 MS, risk detection time is 80 MS and switch-on time is 2.5 s.
