SMC EX260 Series Interface Unit, Ethernet Communication Protocol, IP67 - EX260-SEN3

This Interface unit provides serial-to-Ethernet connectivity for valve manifolds and actuator systems in industrial automation environments. Designed for on-machine installation, it links distributed solenoid outputs to fieldbuses and industrial Ethernet networks while supporting up to 32 valve outputs and daisy-chain wiring. The enclosure achieves IP67 ingress protection under specified connector and mounting conditions and is not certified for hazardous areas.

Features & Benefits

• Supports up to 32 solenoid outputs for larger manifolds
• Built-in daisy-chain wiring reduces cabling complexity
• IP67 enclosure when correctly wired and mounted
• Internal terminating resistor enables ON/OFF line switching
• IO-Link compatibility for simple gateway integration
• Safety-output option supports PROFIsafe safety communication

Applications

• Suitable for driving clustered solenoid valve manifolds in assembly lines
• Ideal for integration with New SY, VQC and S0700 valve families
• used with PROFINET or EtherNet/IP networks for distributed I/O control
• can be used to add IO-Link connectivity to existing fieldbus architectures
• Suitable for machine control where reduced wiring footprint is required

What power ranges are required for control and outputs?

The control supply operates around 24VDC with nominal ranges specified per communication variant

output supply is likewise 24VDC for valve driving.

How is enclosure protection maintained during installation?

IP67 is achieved only when M12 connectors and approved cables are used, all unused ports fitted with seal caps, and correct mounting and wiring practices followed.

Can it handle diagnostics and maintenance scheduling?

Yes, it provides real-time process-data diagnostics including output switching counts and event flags for error, warning and notification to aid preventive maintenance.

Which communication connectors are available?

Multiple M12 and D‑sub connector options exist to match protocols and enable bus‑in/bus‑out daisy-chaining or single-cable power Plus signalling configurations.

Is it suitable for safety-integrated designs?

A version supports PROFIsafe safety communication with a built-in safety output function that disables valve power to achieve a defined safe state.
