The outer casing and inner contact carrier are constructed from a toughened engineering material designed to provide high thermal stability and mechanical strength. The Scame splashproof connectors also feature a convenient ribbed finger tab on the outside of the lid enabling single hand opening. A domed cable gland at the rear of the splashproof connector provides external cable clamping and additional support. The first number refers to protection from solid matter, the second number for protection against liquids. The higher the number the better the protection.
