It's used with an MB 8 washer (237-2237) to locate, secure and pre-load rolling components so they don't slip out of alignment during high-speed processes. The versatile gadget does double duty as it also lets you mount a tapered-bore bearing on an adaptor sleeve. Thanks to four equally spaced slots around the circumference, it's a breeze to install – just grab a HN 8-9 hook spanner (204-4541)to tighten it firmly into position.
