Cable Glands
Cable glands, also known as cable connectors, stuffing glands, or cable fittings, are mechanical devices used to securely attach and seal cables to equipment, enclosures, or surfaces while protecting against dust, moisture, and even gases or liquids. They are commonly used in electrical, telecommunications, manufacturing, and construction industries.
Cable glands come in various sizes, materials, and designs to accommodate different cable types. They often consist of a body, a sealing element (such as a rubber or elastomer seal), a locknut, and sometimes extra features like gaskets or washers. Cable glands are commonly used alongside Cable Gland Adaptors and Cable Gland Plugs for a complete cable management solution.

What are cable glands used for?
- Cable Protection: Provide strain relief, protecting cables from being pulled or twisted at the point of entry into equipment.
- Environmental Sealing: Prevent ingress of dust, dirt, water, and contaminants into enclosures.
- Safety: Help prevent dangerous situations such as electrical shorts or fires by providing secure cable connections.
- Cable Management: Organize and route cables neatly within enclosures or installations.
What are the different types of cable glands?
- Metal glands: Suitable for demanding environments, including brass, stainless steel, SWA, and nickel-platedoptions.
- Plastic glands: Plastic glands use polyamide or nylon, ideal for flexible cables and wide cable entry ranges.
- Ingress protection: IP68 Cable Glands and other IP-rated glands offer protection against dust and moisture (protection classes range from IP44 to IP69K).
- Hazardous kits: Glands for dangerous or high-risk enclosures, including ATEX and HL3 cable glands.
