    HDMI Cables

HDMI stands for High-Definition Multimedia Interface. HDMI cables are a type of cable commonly used to transmit audio and video signals between devices. These signals are then transferred between HDMI compatible devices such as computer monitors, video projectors, TVs, gaming consoles, Blu-ray players and digital audio devices.

HDMI cables use a compact and user-friendly connector that has become the standard interface for digital audio and video connections. The cable consists of multiple twisted pairs of copper wires, which are shielded to minimize interference and ensure reliable signal transmission. Learn more in our HDMI cable guide

    Types of HDMI Cables

There are several different types or categories of HDMI cables, which are classified based on their capabilities and specifications

    Standard HDMI

These cables are also known as Category 1 HDMI cables. They support video resolutions up to 1080i or 720p and are suitable for connecting most consumer devices like TVs, DVD players, and game consoles. However, they do not support higher resolutions like 4K or advanced features like 3D or Ethernet connectivity.

    High-Speed HDMI

This HDMI cable also known as Category 2 HDMI is designed to support a high quality of 1080P and above, this includes supporting 4K and even 8K Ultra HD resolutions and 3D movies. The high-speed cable supports these advances in display and audio as well as deeper colour functionality. High speed HDMI cables are recommended for use in advanced technologies such as 4K TVs, Blu-ray players and gaming consoles.

    Premium High-Speed HDMI

These cables are an enhanced version of High-Speed HDMI cables and are certified by the HDMI Licensing Administrator (HDMI LA). Premium High-Speed HDMI cables provide the same capabilities as High-Speed HDMI cables but offer improved performance and reliability for longer cable runs and higher resolutions.

    Ultra High-Speed

HDMI: Introduced with the HDMI 2.1 specification, Ultra-High-Speed HDMI cables are designed to support the most advanced video and audio technologies. They have significantly higher bandwidth and can handle resolutions up to 10K, high frame rates, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and Enhanced Audio Return Channel (eARC). Ultra High-Speed HDMI cables are suitable for demanding applications like gaming, home theatre setups, and professional installations.
