Linear Power Supplies

An embedded system is a computer system with a dedicated function, embedded as part of a complete device often including hardware and mechanical parts. A power supply sub-system is one of the most important aspects of any embedded system. Embedded linear power supplies are used to regulate the high voltage DC from battery power source to low voltage DC suitable for the embedded system.

How do embedded linear power supplies work?

Embedded linear power supplies accept the load current at the higher DC input voltage, reduce the voltage and deliver the current at reduced voltage. They provide clean output voltage with low noise. They dissipate the extra power as heat, so you need to have heatsinks.

What are embedded linear power suppliers used for?

Embedded linear power suppliers protect sensitive loads against excessive voltage and stabilize tensions so they are suitable for precision applications (for example laboratory power supplies and hi-fi systems). They are easy to install and connect and their efficiency is up to 90%. Embedded linear power suppliers have different numbers of outputs, from one to four. They usually have safety mass straws.
