Are Lithium Thionyl Chloride batteries harmful?
These batteries can sometimes leak a substance called Potassium Hydroxide which is a caustic agent that could cause potential skin, eye and respiratory irritations. To reduce the risk of this type of leak happening, batteries of different manufacturer types and different chemistries should not be mixed. In addition to this, it is also recommended to replace all batteries at the same time to reduce this risk even more.
How should Lithium Thionyl Chloride batteries be disposed of?
Any batteries should be disposed of in accordance with the recommended battery recycling and disposal schemes available
