Featuring 3M Precision Shaped Grain on an X-weight poly-cotton cloth backing, this high-performing belt contains a grinding aid, making it ideal for medium to high-pressure applications with belt sanders and backstands.

Creating a fast cut with a reduced heat build-up, the 3M™ Cubitron™ II Cloth Belts 984F ensures a uniform finish over the life of the product while eliminating burning during end-grain sanding applications. These cloth belts use 3M™ Ceramic Abrasive Grain which is electrostatically orientated to form sharp peaks, that act like individual cutting tools, slicing through metal quickly and efficiently. These peaks continuously self-sharpen as they break off, providing long life and consistency with less grinding pressure.

The belt also features a fabric splice, which adds strength when grinding in medium to high-pressure applications. These combined factors are why the 947A sanding belt can outcut and outlast conventional ceramic industrial abrasive products.

Commonly called sanding belts, abrasive bels are used with belt sanders for heavy-duty sanding applications. Belt sanders are used for smoothing certain surfaces or removing paint or varnish. They are suited to heavy-duty applications, or applications where a level of uniformity is required that can't be guaranteed by hand sanding techniques using conventional sandpaper.

Belt sanders, or strip sanders, are typically portable handheld machines used for running across surfaces that need to be sanded. Wherever a large surface needs to be covered or a large amount of material needs to be removed, belt sanders can save a huge amount of time and physical effort compared to hand sanding. However, they are by design a powerful and aggressive machine, and the portable versions are not so suited to delicate work as other means of sanding.

Belt sanders can also be static backstand belt sander machines designed to have objects maneuvered against the sanding belt for finer sanding applications, This allows a greater degree of manipulative control, and is ideal for finishing and detail work.
