Brass & Copper Solder Fittings

Brass and copper solder fittings are pre-soldered fittings used predominantly in plumbing systems to connect copper pipes.

How do brass and copper solder fittings work?

Brass and copper solder fittings use the principle of capillary action to ensure that, when correctly joined to copper tube, a sufficient layer of lead-free solder is present between tube and fittings to form a mechanically strong, leak proof joint without the need for external solder application. Both the pipes and the fitting should be cleaned with wire wool before use. You can then slide the pipes into the fitting, ensuring that they're pushed all the way in, and apply heat to the rings of solder (indicated by ridges on the outside of the fitting) to secure the joint.

What are brass and copper solder fittings used for?

These fittings can be used to help convey drinking water, light mineral oils, natural or liquid petroleum gases or compressed air. They come in straight, elbow, T-shaped and reducer configurations, depending on your needs.
