Spring plungers and indexing plungers are mechanical components used in a wide range of machine and fixture applications. The plungers are typically used for locking, positioning and locating and fixing. The components come in a range of types, sizes and materials to suit your every requirement.

Types of plungers

Index Plunger (with button, knob or pull loop)

Indexing plungers are made up of a threaded body, a plunger and come with or without actuating button or ring. The nose of the indexing plunger extends which holds it in place, When the handle or lift ring is pulled back the plunger is disengaged, and the plunger retracts back into the body.

Spring Plunger (with a ball)

Spring plungers also known as ball plungers are mechanical parts that are used to secure, position index, positively lock off and apply pressure. The compact component is made up of a ball or pin, an internal spring, all contained in a housing that resembles a grub screw. The housings must be strong and are usually made from metals including steel, stainless steel or aluminium. Some spring plungers are also made of polyamide. Spring plungers are available in a range of thread sizes.
